Toad in Mud was founded in 2006 with the aim of making a wide range of quality unpublished contemporary writing available to a larger audience. We focus on works by lesser-known and unpublished authors in an attempt to gain better recognition for new talents. Our hope is to publish biannual online volumes presenting new and exciting voices working today.
We are an online publishing venture in showcasing new writers and contemporary themed literature. Much like a traditional journal we select and showcase works submitted. If you are a hopeful writer who doesn’t have any information on seeing their work published, then we offer a venue, comment and critque, and a community based yet non-frivilous audience to produce feedback on your work. Or, if you simply enjoy reading a high standard cross-section of todays creative output, then you may be interested in the site. We aim to maintain a impressive level of quality whilst being open to every style, form and subject. There are no personal preferences and works will, of course, be judged with as much objectivity as our editors can muster. We also hope to publish biannual selections from the site, and present them in a more permanent form.
Submission is completely open, and work is accepted through a normal peer review system.
